Electric eels

They say the poet needs the pain. Perhaps there is truth in it -- the time I was in a relationship was marked by a significant drop in my literary output. Now that I'm back in the playing field, I've begun writing again in earnest (but that also has something to do with the fact that I now have -- if I can trust my hit counter -- a regular audience).

Poetry has never been my forte. I still remember the very first poem I wrote. I was about six or seven years old and had just learned about the existence of electric eels from an episode of Sesame Street (which, as you may have guessed, was sponsored by the letter 'E' that day). I was so fascinated that I decided to write a poem about them. So with the help of my big brother, I wrote:

Electric eels
For their meals
Eat meatballs
And alligators

As you can see, my choice to not make a career out of it has been a wise one.

Hah! I'm better than her. Look what she had to say about eels (and plain old vanilla eels at that):

eels twirl
in wily spirals
on elusive tails
