Microsoft AntiSpyWare
Well, for once, Microsoft has delivered a security item that acutally works. After trying several other anti-spyware programs, including a personal firewall, I continued to be haunted by this nagging feeling that there were spyware on my computer. As a last resort, I tried Microsoft's AntiSpyware (Beta). The results were at once both appalling and exhilarating.
Appalling because of the number of programs that were spying and reporting on my activities behind my back. Exhilarating, because a Microsoft product worked better than expected.
I suggest that you do the same.

have you tried spybot? lots of ppl have recommended it and i use it.results are staggering there too:)
doesn't antispyware seriously slow your system down though? i've found that it does mine.
I've found the combination of Adaware and Spybot does the trick. Although I don't really get any spyware or adware any more, just a few annoying cookies (thank you Firefox).
I tried MS Antispyware, wasn't very impressed. It didn't find anything new, and it has a clunky interface. Plus the irritating real time scanning crap which I couldn't disable (mind you this was an old build from months ago). Seriously, there is NO NEED for real time anti spyware running, unless you visit a lot of dodgy sites with IE.
As I understand it (and I could be wrong etc etc), MS Anti-spyware requires admin privileges to run. Not all of the machines I use have admin rights; and I'd like to keep it that way.. so it's pretty much ruled out.
Same goes for Spybot, unfortunately.
Some anti-MS conspiracy theorists may also be interested in knowing that they recently downgraded a known spyware maker's products.. so umm, er. I wouldn't really trust just them to keep the machine clean :)
Nice generic set of spyware fighting tools here . Hijack This! is particularly nice if you're forced to use IE.
I've heard about this anti-MS conspiracy. but at the time i was desperate so i went for the most easily available product. so if you're already using a product that you think is good, don't change to MS. i think i'll give this spybot and spyblaster a try and post a review sometime. unfortunately, i installed adaware once -- it couldn't find most of what MS ferreted out.
Actually i currently have spybot and adaware on my machine at home. This togther with the use of firefox is generally supposed to keep your machine on a average safe limit. ( As recommended in a link courtesy drac :) ).
However there are some trojans which unfortunately simply refused to be intimidated.and i find adaware does not fare well against them.(Dyfuca or something..dont ask ! other users of the same machine simply dont bother sticking by some surfing rules!).
Spywareblaster on the otherhand seems to have most of these pains covered. So put your bet on that for now i think :)
